On September 25th and 26th 1,846 students from 31 high schools participated at Career Expo events at Southwest Minnesota State University and Minnesota West Community and Technical College-Worthington campuses. The expo is the result of one of the largest public-private collaborations in our region with over 250 business, college, k-12, and agency volunteers coming together to provide career and education awareness experiences for high school sophomores and juniors.
The change to a half-day format packed a lot of activity into a short time. Students visited the career exhibit area with 60+ exhibitors, participated in the interactive Career is Right game show, and took a campus tour. This year adults participants from Adult Basic Education and the Workforce Center were invited to explore career options by participating in the interactive exhibit area.
Expo partners included the Department of Employment and Economic Development, Job Service, Marshall/Montevideo/Worthington Workforce Centers, Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Minnesota West Carl Perkins Consortium Schools, Regional Businesses and Service Agencies, SW/WC Service Cooperative, SW MN Private Industry Council, Southwest Minnesota State University, and the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce.
