BestPrep, a Minnesota based nonprofit, helps Minnesota educators utilize educational technology to strengthen their teaching techniques and increase academic success. In partnership with the University of St. Thomas, BestPrep will hold its four-day Technology Integration Workshop for educators July 29 - August 1, 2013.
This hands-on professional development opportunity provides educators from all disciplines the chance to try out technological devices (interactive white boards, slates, document cameras, iPods, iPads, etc.) and learn how to incorporate them into their everyday lessons and units.
Participants also see the technology and career skills being used in business by participating in a half-day job shadow. Job shadow hosts from a variety of businesses such as Travelers, 3M, Ecolab and UnitedHealthGroup provide this enriching experience, allowing teachers to see how curriculum is used in real world settings and to draw parallels into classrooms. As a result, educators are able to better prepare students for the 21st Century workforce.
Teams of educators from the same school or district are especially encouraged to attend and are offered special discounted rates. Schools without staff development funds may apply for special scholarships. Openings will be filled first-come, first-serve; priority deadline is April 30, 2013.
