Ramp Up to Readiness

The Minnesota legislature passed a 2013 law requiring districts to "assist all students by no later than grade 9 to explore their college and career interests and develop a smoth and successful transition to postsecondary education or employment."

The University of Minnesota's College Readiness Consortium created an innovative middle and high school program, Ramp-Up to Readiness, which is a school-wide developmental approach to college and career readiness. Ramp-Up to Readiness is currently being implemented in 54 middle and high schools across Minnesota.

Dr. Katie Pekel, former middle school principal and current Principal in Residence at the University of Minnesota, will be in Marshall to provide an overview of why college and career readiness has become a necessity in terms of our economic stability as a state and nation along with an overview of the program. The University will be accepting 48 new high schools to the Ramp-Up to Readiness program over the next two years at no charge to schools.
