Minnesota West Community and Technical College will be offering Precision Machining and Mechatronics beginning fall semester 2016.
Precision Machining is a one-year diploma program which will provide students with the skills needed to pursue a career as a machinist in
the manufacturing field. Machinists use
blueprints, precision measuring instruments and gauges, hand tools, and a
variety of manual and CNC (computer numerical control) machines. They create
precision and intricate parts for medical, computer, aerospace, automotive,
shipping/transportation, petroleum and recreational industries.
Students in the Mechatronics program will
have two pathways to choose from which include a Diploma program or an Associate of Applied Science Degree. Mechatronics
integrates mechanical, electronics, fluid power, and computer control systems
to create automated manufacturing production systems. This program prepares
students for technical positions in the areas of robotics, industrial
manufacturing and maintenance, fluid power, instrumentation, electronics and
process control automation.
