iPad School for CTE Teachers

Do you have an iPad but aren’t sure if you are using it to its potential? Don’t have one, but would love to know more about how you can use it with your students? The Minnesota West Carl Perkins Consortium will be offering a staff development and networking session for Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors. This training will be designed for beginning and intermediate iPad users. Please note that if you are a CTE instructor but currently do not receive Carl Perkins funds, you are welcome to attend.

The training will be held June 12 from 9:30-3:00 at the Service Cooperative Office in Marshall.
Cost: Minnesota West Consortium Members-$25 , Non-members- $50
Lunch and CEUs will be available. No mileage reimbursement.

The workshop will cover the following:
• Basic iPad device knowledge
• Examples of classroom use
• Useful accessories
• Downloading and evaluating apps
• Commonly used classroom apps
• Networking with teachers in your discipline

The Service Cooperative will have 16 iPads available for checkout to consortium members. If you are interested in attending the training but do not have an iPad, you may borrow one of ours. You can reserve an iPad when you register. These iPads will be available for checkout during the school year as well. You will be able to reserve the entire set for your classroom or just one so you can familiarize yourself with it.

***We are looking for teachers who have iPad experience (you don’t need to be an expert) to help facilitate the networking portion of the day. If you have been using an iPad for awhile and would be willing to share your experiences, please let me know. We are hoping to find 1 or 2 teachers in each CTE area ( FACS, Ag, Business, and Industrial Tech) to share their experiences with their colleagues. Please let me know if you would be interested.

On-line registration is available at www.lifetimeoflearning.com. Under the “Workshop” button at the top of the page, select “Register Online” and then scroll down to the June 12 workshop. Please register by May 25.
