The FCS instructors met November 18 in Marshall. Chefs from the Schwan Food Company spent the afternoon demonstrating techniques the teachers can share with their students planning to attend the Culinary Skills Challenge on March 31. Teachers learned how to make and then sampled risotto, polenta, and and gnocchi. Dr. Jill Conlon, Department Chair of the Dept. of Consumer Science at Minnesota State Universtity, Mankato involved the teachers in a team building activity they can also do with their students. She also shared information about new textile trends.
The annual Business Teacher Meeting was held at the Service
Co-op on December 11. Instructors from the Business Departments at
Minnesota West and Southwest Minnesota State University presented to the group. Michael Rich from SMSU
shared marketing concepts the teachers can use in their classes. Pam
Jensen and Terri Pelzel shared information about the hybrid computer courses
they are teaching in several high schools.
